Norwich boss Alex Neil has dug a hole for himself - after a dig at Albion's low scoring.

The Scot has been keen to emphasise the benefits of his attacking approach ahead of the Canaries' second v fourth visit to the Amex tomorrow.

Neil, speaking in his pre-match press conference, said: "The simple fact is if you look at the figures, I think they've conceded nine or ten less than us but equally we've scored nine or ten more than them and the bottom line is there's one point between us.

"So how do you go about it? Do you go and try to win games or do you keep solid, hope you nick something and win the game that way?

"Our approach and my approach is we always try to win the game and sometimes if it costs me a goal I want to score three."

Neil is right, more or less. Norwich are the second highest scorers in the Championship with 26 goals, eight more than Albion.

They have conceded ten goals more than the Seagulls, who have the best defensive record in the division.

Chris Hughton's side also, however, have the joint fourth-best goalscoring record of the teams in the top ten.

Norwich, meanwhile, have the worst defensive stats of any team in the top 11.

That suggests, at the moment at least, Hughton is getting the balance between defence and attack right rather more than Neil.
