Crawley Town head coach Dermot Drummy has highlighted the movement of Grimsby Town’s Omar Bogle as a threat ahead of tomorrow’s League Two showdown at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

Reds, who are 19th in the league and on a run of nine matches without a win, will come up against the league’s second top scorer in 24-year-old Bogle, with 14 goals scored in 18 league games this season.

When asked how Town will attempt to combat the 6ft 3in forward, Drummy said: “I saw him when I went to watch Woking play Solihull Moors (who Bogle was playing for last year) and his movement was very good for a big man. You’ve got to try to stop the source getting into him, but I believe in what we do.

“Yes, they have threats but we also have to accentuate our positives. I’m not disappointed with the way we’re performing other than that we’re letting in silly goals. I think a winning run will come again once we eradicate that.”

The defensive errors Drummy referred to are reflected in the statistics, as Crawley have lost all of their last four matches, conceding 14 goals in the process. Their previous three league fixtures have ended in 3-1 losses, the last of which came at Mansfield Town last Saturday.

Drummy added: “You have to stay positive, because if you don’t, you might as well pack up and go home. You’ve got to show the players you believe in them and believe in what you’re doing.

“If people are judged on a month’s games, there won’t be many managers in a job. We’ve made elementary errors with a couple of young, inexperienced players. We probably need a bit more experience.”

Drummy confirmed Mark Connolly will be available tomorrow after being taken off with concussion against Mansfield. Fellow centre-back Joe McNerney is back in light training and is around ten days away from being fit.

Another defender, on-loan Chelsea centre back Alex Davey, trained yesterday after picking up a shoulder injury against Mansfield and winger Adi Yussuf can return having had to miss last Saturday’s game against his parent club.

Grimsby head to Crawley sixth in the table, having picked up seven points from three league games under new manager Marcus Bignot, who left National League side Solihull Moors to replace Paul Hurst earlier this month.

Crawley may go into the game slightly fresher than the Mariners, as Tuesday’s fixture at Yeovil Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, while Grimsby drew 2-2 at home to Carlisle United that evening.
