Sam Baldock has urged Albion to keep their foot on the throttle to consolidate their automatic promotion bid.
The Seagulls have established themselves in second place in the Championship behind leaders Newcastle with an 11-game unbeaten run.
They host Fulham today with a four-point lead over Reading and six points clear of Huddersfield.
Reading are at home to striker Baldock’s old club Bristol City. Huddersfield have to wait until Monday, when they entertain Wigan.
Baldock said: “We’re going to go game by game, there’s no point in getting too carried away.
This time last year we were still unbeaten in the league but ultimately it didn’t mean anything come the end of the season.
“You can’t take your foot off the gas for any game, because you can get punished and we know these points could matter in the long run.”
Fulham, thrashed 5-0 at the Amex in April, hinted at an improved campaign by beating Albion 3-0 in a pre-season friendly.
They suffered their only away defeat so far at Aston Villa and have climbed to within two points of the play-offs.
Baldock said: “They’re a very strong outfit. They ended last season fairly well and took that into pre-season. We beat them 5-0 last season, but they dominated for the first 30 minutes and it could have been a different story.
“They’re an expansive team who look to get the ball down and play, so it’s going to be a tough test for us.”
