Glenn Murray has praised the variety of Albion’s widemen – as his boss prepares to make a big decision.

The Seagulls’ top scorer believes Jamie Murphy and Jiri Skalak both offer something different in the quest for goals.

Skalak and Murphy could be competing for the left-wing berth against stand-in Cardiff City right-back Matt Connolly on Saturday.

Alternately, manager Chris Hughton could opt to give Anthony Knockaert respite and start both his Czech and Scottish raiders.

Murray expects a plentiful supply line whatever happens, one way or another.

He told The Argus: “All our wingers have got quality in abundance.

“Jamie is just slightly different but me and Sam (Baldock) know what to expect from him so it’s an easy transitions to be honest.

“Murph carries the ball a bit more than Skally. He is more direct.

“Skally gets the ball at his feet and crosses it whereas Murph can glide past players with ease.”

Murray, hopeful of a first away goal of the season after 11 at the Amex, expects Albion to be well-informed as they take on a Cardiff side managed by Neil Warnock, the boss who let him out on loan at Crystal Palace.

Seagulls assistant Paul Trollope was in charge of the Bluebirds until recently.

Murray said: “Paul will know Cardiff very well and I am sure he will drill us very well on it. Hopefully we will know Cardiff inside out.”

Connolly fills in a right-back for Cardiff as first-choice Lee Peltier serves a one-game ban following his dismissal at Aston Villa.

Albion’s right-winger will be up against former Seagulls loanee left-back Joe Bennett, who Trollope signed from Villa in August.
