Albion are set to face last season's skipper in their next match, together with a rejuvenated striker.

Gordon Greer made a late appearance as a substitute for Tuesday night hosts Blackburn Rovers as they were beaten 3-2 in their Lancashire derby at Preston this evening, despite a double from Danny Graham.

Former Seagulls centre-half Greer replaced the injured Charlie Mulgrew shortly before Callum Robinson struck Preston's 80th minute winner.

Graham equalised in the first half at the second attempt from the rebound after his penalty had been saved.

The ex-Swansea marksman levelled again 20 minutes from time, his fifth goal in his last four appearances.

Jamaican midfielder Daniel Johnson scored Preston's first two goals, the opener a penalty.

It was only the second defeat suffered by Owen Coyle's Rovers in six games, an improved run including a shock victory at leaders Newcastle.

They remain 21st, above the relegation zone on goal difference.
