Albion are considering an appeal against Glenn Murray's red card at the Amex last night.

And they have the support of former top ref Mark Halsey.

Murray was sent-off by Stuart Attwell for blocking a Glenn Loovens shot with his hands.

David Stockdale saved Fernando Forestieri's resulting penalty in Albion's dramatic 2-1 win, but the Seagulls now face a striker shortage for Cardiff's visit on Tuesday night with Murray suspended.

Sam Baldock missed last night's match with a slight calf injury, leaving Tomer Hemed as potentially the only established striker available against the Welshmen.

Club bosses will make a decision on a possible appeal today.

Halsey said on Twitter Murray should not have seen red, as Stockdale was "right behind" the shot from Loovens.

Stockdale told The Argus: "The rules now, I thought, are if he is denying a goalscoring opportunity then it's a red, like the one we had against Leeds.

"If he's not I thought it's a yellow card and the penalty is the punishment.

"He (Murray) said to me 'Were you saving it?' I was behind it, it might even have been going over.

"I didn't see him actually handball it. I'm not the ref. It's a hard job as it is. He had to show a few cards."

Sheffield Wednesday duo Steven Fletcher and Sam Hutchinson also saw red in the closing stages.

Hutchinson, already booked when he saw yellow again for a reckless challenge on sub Solly March, has now accumulated five red cards and 36 cautions in 85 outings for Wednesday.
