Albion boss Chris Hughton has paid tribute to the work ethic and running of ton-up striker Sam Baldock.

Baldock returned from five matches out with a calf injury to score the 100th goal of his career in today's 4-1 win against Burton Albion at the Amex.

Hughton told The Argus: "I wasn't aware of that but I'm really delighted for him. The last few weeks have been frustrating for him. He's been a big player in the team for us.

"Any landmark you get to in your career, whether it's games or goals, is always significant, and goals particularly are for him as a striker."

Albion have now won 22 games in the Championship at the Amex, drawn seven and lost none with Baldock involved over a period of more than two years.

"We know what we brings to the team," Hughton said. "We play 4-4-2 and there aren't many that do that - almost nobody does in the top division (Premier League).

"It has its difficulties but it has its pluses. If you are going to play two up front you need a really good work ethic and probably that's what Sam gives. He has good running ability. You need that."

Baldock now has eight goals this season in all competitions, Tomer Hemed 12 afer scoring twice (one a penalty) and Glenn Murray 16 following his goal from the bench.

Anthony Knockaert (ten goals) added two more assists after also setting up two of the goals in last Sunday's 3-3 draw at Brentford.
