DAVID STOCKDALE 7

Deserved return to clean sheet mode after previous exploits. One-handed saves in both halves from Watkins shots. Rest of his work was routine, thanks to the disciplined defending in front of him.

BRUNO 7

Captain has recaptured his accomplished form after injury-related breather from uninterrupted stretch of appearances. Coped with the pacey Kent and reads situations so well.

SHANE DUFFY 7

No mask needed for nose broken against Ipswich for the Irish warrior. Dominated the substituted Bradshaw and Armstrong in tandem with Dunk.

LEWIS DUNK 7

Ref missed early handball in the area, although it would have been extremely harsh as he was pushed. Another impressive contribution in which he remained composed throughout.

SEB POCOGNOLI 7

Enjoying a run of games as he continues to deputise effectively for Bong. Sound enough defensively and comfortable going forward. Combined well with Murphy.

ANTHONY KNOCKAERT 8

Played a part in the first goal and a massive role in the second. His own killer touch was missing this time but Barnsley seemed terrified of him and others benefited.

DALE STEPHENS 7

Played an unsung role patrolling ahead of the back four and got through a significant amount of grafting work against a neat footballing side.

STEVE SIDWELL 7

Given license to roam a bit further forward than his sidekick and was another who did the bits and pieces which ensured team shape while others sparkled.

JAMIE MURPHY 6

A strange afternoon on his recall to the XI. Looked capable of beating his full-back with ease but the end product, especially when going for goal, was lacking.

GLENN MURRAY 8

Close to a goal with a deflected header but this return to the starting line-up was about the physical battle he waged with the big centre-backs to get the ball and supply others.

SAM BALDOCK 9

Went close and set up a good chance in the first half, then went into overdrive with a super strike and a predatory finish to a move he started. Not inhibited by early yellow card.
