ALBION winger Anthony Knockaert has issued a catch us if you can challenge to promotion rivals Huddersfield and Reading.

The French wing wizard says he would be scared to look at the Championship table if he was with one of the Seagulls’ closest pursuers.

Albion are eight points ahead of tomorrow’s Amex visitors Reading (5.30) with a game in hand.

Huddersfield will cut their cushion to a point if they win at Barnsley (3pm) but Knockaert insists the heat is on the chasers and not Chris Hughton’s side.

Knockaert told The Argus: “There’s not one footballer who can say he doesn’t watch the table. That would be strange.

“Of course we look at the table, but it doesn’t put any pressure on us because we are in a good position. I would be scared to watch the table if I was Huddersfield or Reading now. I would be like ‘Aagh, we have to do this’, but not us.

“If we continue to win games and do what we did in the past, there is no reason we won’t be there at the end. They have to win a lot of games to catch us. It’s not just about two games, because we have to lose two games and they (Huddersfield) have to win two games to catch us. We are in a good position. They are in not a bad position, but a position where there’s no guarantee they will keep winning.”

Albion can effectively knock Reading out of the automatic promotion race with another landmark victory after last Saturday’s 50th success of Chris Hughton’s 100-game league reign at Barnsley.

The visit of Jaap Stam’s side is the 150th competitive game at the Amex. Albion have won 73, drawn 43 and lost 33.
