Newcastle have been boosted by an injury bulletin on Dwight Gayle ahead of Tuesday's showdown with Albion at the Amex.

The striker limped off with a recurrence of hamstring trouble in Monday's win against Aston Villa, but scans have shown no tear.

Gayle is not back in training, but boss Rafa Benitez has refused to rule him out of the top-of-the-table clash with Albion.

Benitez said: "We will have to see. We don't have a timescale.

"He is doing really well and we are quite pleased with the situation now. But we cannot say how long he will be out for.

"He is not training, but all the tests we have done are quite positive. It is a question of his confidence more than anything. I think it will be less than four weeks."
