Albion Women had to settle for a 1-1 draw in their Women's Super League Spring Series clash with Oxford United at Lancing.

Bronwen Thomas opened the scoring for the Seagulls before Evie Gane fired home in the second half to secure a point for the visitors.

It is the second time George Parris's side have drawn 1-1 having taken the lead after being pegged back at London Bees in their opening match of the Spring Series two weeks ago.

Oxford dominated the first half and forward Ini Umotong had her effort from a corner ruled out early on for a foul inside the box.

Umotong continued to trouble the Brighton backline as Ella Franklin-Fraiture’s fantastically weighted pass found the Nigerian forward, whose chip rose the wrong side of the cross bar.

But it was Albion who took the lead against the run of play as Thomas’s deflected shot looped over Demi Lambourne in goal.

Oxford drew level on 66 minutes as 16 year-old Gane superbly lobbed Emma Byrne in the Albion goal.

Oxford nearly clinched all three points with ten minutes remaining as Umotong’s edge of the box strike bounced off the woodwork.
