Skipper Bruno believes Albion will take a big step towards promotion if they beat Newcastle tonight at the Amex.
A tenth home win out of 12 would ease them four points clear of the North-East giants and nine ahead of Huddersfield, who host Newcastle on Saturday.
Bruno said: “Every step that we take is going to get us closer to the Premier League.
“We’ve got another one and a big one as well, because the opponent in front of us is strong with a lot of good players.
“It’s always tougher to play against these type of teams.
“Of course, a win is not just about the three points. For confidence as well it’s a big thing.”
Albion have responded to a mini-blip of one defeat and two draws in four games with consecutive clean sheet wins away to Barnsley and at home to Reading.
Bruno said: “We’ve had our bad period already and it was really short and we’ve come back stronger.”
Newcastle, still missing top scorer Dwight Gayle (hamstring), have been held to draws in three of their last six matches.
