Anthony Knockaert has signed a contract extension with Albion, keeping him at the club for the next four years.

The French wing wizard has penned an extended deal until June 2021.

Knockaert, 25, has scored 16 goals in 52 Championship appearances for the Seagulls since joining from Belgian club Standard Liege in January 2016 on a contract until June 2019 for around £2.6 million.

The influential wide man's value has soared since then and he was targeted by promotion rivals Newcastle in last summer's transfer window.

Eleven of Knockaert's goals have come this season, accompanied recently by a flurry of assists.

Manager Chris Hughton said; "Anthony has been an integral member of the squad since his arrival in January last year, and I am delighted that we have been able to secure his immediate future to the club.

"This new contract recognises the hard work and relentless effort he has given to the team, and I am looking forward to working with him over the coming years."

Fans' favourite Knockaert lost his father, Patrick, in November. Hughton and his players travelled to France for the funeral in a show of solidarity.
