Liam Bridcutt has revealed he has no regrets about leaving Albion.

The twice Seagulls player of the season is preparing to skipper Leeds against his old club in the Championship’s match of the day.

He is earning high praise at Elland Road for his midfield displays and is hoping to make up for play-off heartbreak he suffered with Albion four years ago.

Bridcutt was a huge fans favourite at the Amex but left under something of a cloud when he followed boss Gus Poyet to top-flight Sunderland.

He is now aiming to regain both Premier League status and his place in the Scotland squad.

The 27–year-old said: “I have very good memories of Brighton.

"The club probably kick started my career really and I started making a name for myself.

"It's a club that I loved playing for and I place I enjoy going back to."

Asked if he wished he had stayed at the Amex, he replied: "Not really.

“For me, it was an opportunity to play Premier League football so it was a decision I made and hopefully it was the right decision.

"It gave me experience to go and play in the Premier League and I probably wouldn't have been where I am now really.

"I'm pleased. I think things happen for a reason and that's the reason why I am here now."

Leeds have slipped out of the race for a top-two place and Bridcutt says the pressure is all on Albion today.

He added: "They are aiming for automatic promotion and, with Huddersfield chipping away and getting some good results, I think they are going to be more worried about us then we are of them."

"I have seen quite a bit of them over this season.

"They look to break quickly and obviously with their front three at times, they have got a lot of threat.

"But we have come up against better sides and come off with some good results."
