Albion's promotion rivals Huddersfield Town are sweating on the well-being of key man Aaron Mooy for their next match.

The influential central midfielder on loan from Manchester City is on international duty with Australia.

Mooy, chosen for the Championship team of the season, has games against Iraq in Iran on Thursday and at home to United Arab Emirates on March 28 before Town host Burton Albion on April 1.

Mooy is not the only international the Terriers, six points adrift of Albion with a game in hand, will be worried about.

Winger Elias Kachunga, a surprise call-up for Congo, has a 6,800-mile trip to face Kenya on Sunday.

Chelsea loanee Izzy Brown's first call-up to the England under-21s alongside Albion duo Solly March and Christian Walton has been hit by a knee injury sustained in Friday's 4-0 defeat at Bristol City.

Meanwhile, the injury problems have mounted for Newcastle, a point ahead of Albion at the top of the table.

Grant Hanley has pulled out of the Scotland squad with an ankle injury following Saturday's 0-0 draw at Birmingham. Keeper Rob Elliot has also been forced to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad with a knee problem and fellow countryman Daryl Murphy has a calf complaint.

Boss Rafa Benitez hopes to have centre-back Ciaran Clark (knee ligament) back for Wigan's visit on April 1. The Spaniard is already without right-back DeAndre Yedlin (thigh) for five weeks.
