Albion striker Tomer Hemed has passionately defended his conduct after a two-match ban by Israel.

Hemed responded to the suspension imposed by coach Elisha Levi for attacking his exclusion from the starting line-up for last Friday's defeat by Spain with a statement on his Twitter account, written in Hebrew.

The 29-year-old said post-match remarks to the media were not meant as a criticism of his team-mates or the national side.

He has always handled situations professionally and respectfully, even when the decisions of managers have gone against him.

Hemed admitted it hurts he doesn't get the credit he believes he deserves with Israel and any player should be disappointed if they are not playing.

He will continue to work hard, as he has throughout his career, to prove he deserves to play.

He would also be proud to wear Israel colours again and will still be rooting for them when he retires.

Hemed has been banned by Levi for the next two matches in June against Moldova and Albania.
