Uwe Huenemeier believes experience is helping Albion through their defensive changes.

There could be another reshuffle against Birmingham tomorrow if, as appears very possible, Bruno returns to the side.

Huenemeier shone in another new-look back four as the Seagulls kept their 20th clean sheet in 39 league games this season.

This time Sebastien Pocognoli returned from injury at left-back and Liam Rosenior switched to the right with Fikayo Tomori dropping out.

The Argus:

Sebastien Pocognoli returned against Blackburn

Huenemeier told The Argus: “If you look at guys like Poco and Rosey (Rosenior), these players have so much experience. Even me.

“We are old enough and experienced enough to cope with these situations. Poco came back from an injury now, Rosey came back a couple of weeks ago.

The Argus:

“Bruno was close, Bongy (left-back Gaetan Bong) is fit so we have a lot of different options.

“But they are all experienced, they have all played at the highest level, Premier League, so I think that is not a problem to us.”

Huenemeier played the last three games before the international break when Shane Duffy suffered a fractured foot bone.

Duffy was at the game against his old club with his left foot encased in a protective boot.

The Argus:

After that sudden burst of activity following more than a year out of the side, the two-week interval would appear to have been timely for Huenemeier.

But he said: “I felt really good after those three games before the international break.

“It is quite nice to have a bit of a break mentally as it’s a busy time, but you always want to play.

“It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for a long time.

“I feel fit, I always do my bits in training and my extras. I am feeling really good and that is why I can play these games, these 90 minutes.”

Huenemeier saw his sidekick Lewis Dunk surprise everyone against Blackburn by twice going for goal with long range free-kicks.

He was on target each time but both were saved.

Huenemeier revealed: “He has worked on that after training quite a lot.

“I thought the first one was quite difficult for the keeper to save. The second one was a bit too far away.

“We always train on it. Even me, I try to do some free-kicks.

“I think this was the first time we have seen it. Maybe we will see that a bit more in the future.”
