STEVE Sidwell insists Albion have not fallen into Premier League mode as they try to round off a record-breaking season with a title trophy.

The Seagulls get their third chance to go up as champions by winning at Sidwell’s old club Aston Villa on Sunday after successive defeats against Norwich and Bristol City.

Sidwell said: “Some people are saying we got promoted too early with three games to go. But I don’t think so, there is no sense of that in the camp.

“We are not talking about Premier League at the moment, our celebrations have been and gone. We get three bites at the cherry and we will need the third one.”

Midfielder Sidwell had two-and-a-half years in the Premier League with Villa, scoring three goals in 45 appearances.

They are a disappointing 12th after relegation and will be without injured top scorer Jonathan Kodjia.

But they have reeled off six clean sheet wins in their last seven outings at Villa Park under Steve Bruce and represent a threat to Albion’s hopes of staying above Newcastle at the top.

Sidwell said: “They are going to want to end the season on a high.

“With it being their last home game, they will be wanting to end on a good note for their fans. It will be a build up for next season for them.

“So we need to go there with the right frame of mind and each and every one of us needs to be on the top of their game.”

Sidwell is vying for his fourth start out of six alongside Dale Stephens in the centre of the park after replacing Beram Kayal early in the second half of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by Bristol City at the Amex.
