Albion legend Inigo Calderon could be on his way back to England – if he can persuade the family.

The former Seagulls right-back is trying to find a club in the Football League, ideally where he can also further his coaching ambitions.

Calderon, pictured above on a recent trip to the Amex, expects to be released by Cypriot outfit Anorthosis Famagusta and is on his way back to the Basque country.

He has been scouting for Albion throughout the winter, studying DVDs of games while putting his feet up after training.

But he wants to stay out on the training ground and sees England as the best option. Even if his two children, aged five years and 20 months, won’t be happy.

Calderon told The Argus: “It’s a bit complicated because the family are so happy in Cyprus. They play outside, all together with their friends.

“But we have to look to the future.

“My main options will be Cyprus, England and Spain – and England has more options for a player-coach role because we don’t really have that in Spain.

“I have my UEFA A Licence, I have a Masters in sports psychology and a sports science degree so I am well prepared.

“My agent has been sending out CVs. I’m looking at League One, maybe Championship – but also League Two and National League because there are some good clubs and it might give me that chance to do some coaching.

“I feel good so I want to keep playing.

“I’ve enjoyed the scouting and it has helped me learn but I’m not ready to leave the football pitch yet.”

Calderon has been a regular for Anorthosis in the top flight but has not particularly enjoyed the season.

He said: “We started really badly, we have had problems in the club and we went two months without a president.

“I was playing centre-back, which is not my best position. But it has been an experience.”
