Albion are hopeful of landing Chelsea’s teenage hotshot Tammy Abraham - after aiding the development of his best friend.

Fikayo Tomori spoke to Abraham before joining the Seagulls on loan from the Blues in January and helping them to the Premier League.

Chelsea trusted Albion with England under-20s defender Tomori and Abraham could now be heading for a loan move to the Amex as well.

They face competition for the 19-year-old striker, who scored 23 goals in 41 games on loan to Championship strugglers Bristol City.

The Argus:

Newcastle, Leicester and Everton have all been linked with Abraham, along with Turkish giants Fenerbache and Galatasaray.

A Premier League loan is regarded by Chelsea as the natural next step for a player they rate highly and have no intention of selling.

Albion boss Chris Hughton and chief executive Paul Barber are both well connected with members of the Stamford Bridge hierarchy.

Abraham is also likely to get more game time with the Seagulls than his other admirers.

An additional attraction for the south-east Londoner will be the opportunity to join forces at club level with England under-21s team-mate and Albion winger Solly March.

The pair are set to feature in Aidy Boothroyd’s squad for the European Championship finals in Poland next month.

Tomori, who made ten appearances for Albion during the run-in, is part of the England under-20s squad through to the last 16 of the World Cup following a 1-0 win yesterday over hosts Korea.
