Brighton will be a big draw at the play-off final – even though Albion clinched their Premier League spot weeks ago.

An eye-catching design to the match programme for today’s promotion decider between Reading and Huddersfield has been a talking point in recent days.

Alexander Wells, an illustrator who lives and works in Brighton, came up with the design.

He also worked on the programme covers for the Championship and League Two play-off finals.

Wells earnt the EFL call after impressing with his imaginative cover illustrations for the Wolves programme this season.

He said: “It was great fun working across the Wolves programmes this year, researching the stories behind the nicknames and histories of the clubs to represent them properly on the covers.

“The travelling fans to Wolves seemed to really take well to the illustrations of their club and it’s been good to work on the League One and League Two finalists too.

“I hope the fans enjoy my work.”

The Championship cover which breaks from the norm features Huddersfield’s Yorkshire terrier and Reading’s Royal knight.

Away from football, Wells has a long list of clients including the BBC, ESPN, Rolling Stone magazine and the New York Times.
