Albion are keen to add Australian international Maty Ryan to their goalkeeping options for the Premier League.
The Seagulls are closing in on the capture of the Valencia shot-stopper, The Argus understands.
Ryan, 25, is under contract with the Spanish club for another four seasons but has struggled for game time and was loaned out this year to Belgian club Genk.
Albion's current No.1 David Stockdale has rejected the club's new contract offer.
Stockdale's Finnish understudy, Niki Maenpaa, is on the verge of signing a new deal.
Albion are aiming to have three established keepers on their books in the Premier League, which would enable them to send 21-year-old Christian Walton back out on loan.
Ryan is set to feature for Australia in Thursday's World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia in Adelaide and a friendly against Brazil in Melbourne five days later.
