Another of Albion's Withdean promotion stalwarts has left the club.

Paul Watson has joined Sheffield United as head physio.

His move north ends an association with the Seagulls spanning more than 16 years as a player and member of the medical team.

Right-back Watson played for Albion from 1999 to 2005, helping them to consecutive promotions to the Championship and laying on countless goals for striker legend Bobby Zamora with his crossing and set piece accuracy.

The former Brentford defender went on to become an assistant physio at academy and development level, then first team physio from October 2012.

His switch to Bramall Lane reunites him with former Albion team-mate Chris Wilder, who guided the Blades to promotion from League One last season.

Watson, 42, (below left) also played for Albion alongside captain Paul Rogers (below right).

The Argus: Ex-Sheffield United midfielder turned commercial chief Rogers has been sacked by the club for gross misconduct in connection with a commercial deal.
