Boss Chris Hughton says Albion's quality showed in the pre-season drubbing of Crawley.

The Seagulls hit their League Two Sussex neighbours for six at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

And there were no fresh injury worries after Anthony Knockaert suffered ankle ligament damage in the first friendly in Austria.

Hughton said: "I'm pleased. What is just as important is that we've come away with no injuries.

"It was a really good workout. We had a tough game in Austria againsg Dusseldorf. They were probably two weeks ahead of us.

"Today what probably did show was the level we are as opposed to Crawley, but I thought we played really well.

"Particularly in the first half. We took maybe a little bit longer to get going in the second half but I thought our quality showed."

Former Ingolstadt duo Pascal Gross and Markus Suttner combined for the second goal, while the other newcomer Mathew Ryan was unemployed in the opening 45 minutes between the posts as Hughton again used 22 players.

He said: "Maty didn't get so much work today but all three have settled in really well, particularly Pascal who has been with us the longest.

"That helps. If you are able to bring players in early they can adjust to the players we have."
