Albion have beaten Huddersfield to the capture of Chelsea attacker Izzy Brown.

The 20-year-old is joining the Seagulls on loan for their debut season in the Premier League after agreeing a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

They have settled terms with Chelsea and the player for his switch to the south coast.

The signing will be officially announced today and Albion plan to involve Brown in tonight's friendly at Southend United (7.45pm).

He has chosen the Seagulls over Huddersfield, who wanted him back after he helped them to promotion via the play-offs last season.

The pace and athleticism of the versatile England under-20s international will add a dynamic dimension to the attacking options of Albion boss Chris Hughton.

Brown can operate as a No.9, No.10 or in central midfield.

He has been accustomed to loan spells since joining Chelsea from West Brom four years ago.

Brown has also been borrowed by Vitesse Arnhem and Rotherham.

His arrival is a case of second time lucky for Albion. They wanted Brown's Chelsea colleague Tammy Abraham, but the England under-21s striker chose Swansea following a prolific season on loan to Bristol City in the Championship.
