Boss Chris Hughton does not expect Albion’s transfer record to be broken for a fourth time this summer.

The Seagulls remain intent on more business before the window shuts at the end of the month, especially a striker.

They paid £5.2 million for goalkeeper Mathew Ryan from Valencia, around £10 million for Dutch midfielder Davy Propper from PSV Eindhoven and are about to complete Colombian winger Jose Izquierdo’s £13.5 million move from Brugge.

Hughton said: “We are still actively looking and trying to bring in if we can. What we are all appreciative of at this club is that we have a chairman and owner who is prepared to break those club transfer records already three times this season.

“I know that comes with the territory, because we are not only in the Premier League but in a market which has jumped dramatically this summer, but you still have to have a chairman who is prepared to do that.

“I don’t expect to break it again but we would like to do some more business.”

Izquierdo could make his debut in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Barnet at the Amex.

Hughton told The Argus: “We just need to asses him. It’s not only happened very quickly for him, but he wouldn’t have had the same pre-season as everybody else.

“There were rumours and talk about him leaving so he wouldn’t have played the games that everybody else has and he’s had to do a little bit of travelling in the last few days so, is there a chance?

“Yes, there is a chance that he will play in that game but it’s got to be right. I certainly couldn’t say at this moment categorically that it would be a yes. If we feel it’s right for him to play some part then he will.”
