Albion's window pain has been compounded by an injury to goalkeeper prospect Christian Walton.

The England under-21 international, on loan to Wigan, had to be helped off after hurting an ankle yesterday in an open day training session.

Wigan signed another goalkeeper last night before the window closed.

Walton has kept two clean sheets out of four in Wigan's unbeaten start in League One.

His injury coincided with a triple blow to Albion on the final day of trading.

A loan deal for Dutch central defender Stefano Denswil collapsed due to an injury at his parent club Brugge.

The Seagulls were set to land Deportivo's Romanian striker Florin Andone until the move fell through at the eleventh hour because a proposed signing did not materialise for the La Liga side.

They were then granted a two-hour deadline extension by the Premier League to complete another record-breaking bid to buy Vincent Janssen from Spurs, but the Dutchman turned them down after the clubs had agreed terms.
