Gary Elphick resigned as manager of Worthing after their 5-0 defeat to Margate today.
The Rebels were thumped in their first game at their temporary Nyewood Lane home to crash to their sixth straight Bostik Premier defeat.
Elphick spoke to fans following the final whistle and then left the ground immediately and the club confirmed just after 5.30pm he had resigned from his post.
The defeat leaves Rebels rooted to the bottom of the table.
Elphick took charge of Worthing in April following co-boss Jon Meeney's departure but this campaign has been beset by problems.
Worthing were sunk by a Frannie Collin hat-trick as well as goals from Orlando Smith and Jordan Chiedozie.
They also had debutant Daniel Akinwumni sent off in the first-half in an incident which also saw Margate's Chiedozie given a straight red.
