James Tilley wants to follow his fellow teen Jayson Molumby into Albion's Premier League matchday squad – after earning a new contract.

The wideman from Billingshurst has signed a new three-year deal.

He was hailed by Chris Hughton as Albion under-21s’ best player at Oxford on Tuesday.

Meanwhile left-back George Cox, from Portslade, has a two-year contract.

Both played in the development side who impressed by coming from 2-0 down to draw, then win a shoot out, at the Kassam Stadium.

But they would love to go one better and emulate Molumby, who was on the senior bench at the Emirates on Sunday.

Tilley told The Argus: “I’m really happy. I’ve been here from under-12s.

“I think I’ve been developing well this season. I’ve got bigger and stronger on the ball.

“It’s quality that Jayson is getting on the bench.

“It gives us hope that we can do that as well. He deserves it.”

First-team boss Hughton watched from the stand as Tilley curled a super goal at Oxford.

The new deals had been finalised well before that game took place.

Hughton told The Argus: “Most of us knew about Tilley probably earlier than George but George has made really good progress.

“Tilley at the moment is going through a really good phase.

“I thought he was our best player on Tuesday.”
