JOSE IZQUIERDO is set to make his full home debut for Albion against Southampton on Sunday after his first goal in English football.

The £13.5 million record signing Colombian, preferred to Solly March on the left-wing, fired the second of Albion’s three goals at West Ham just before the break.

Izquierdo, replaced by March in the second half at the London Stadium, is likely to retain the spot at the Amex (1.30), where his only appearance so far was a lively late cameo against Everton.

Manager Chris Hughton told The Argus: “With Jose it’s about giving him games.

“We brought him in for a big fee and the reason for that is he’s a good player.

“It’s about introducing him in the right games. It was a good opportunity to change things a little bit.

“He’s got that ability as a right-footed player, coming inside. You never know if it’s going to happen. When he struck it I wasn’t sure it was going to go in but the timing of the goal was excellent for us.

“It will take him time. This is a different type of league and he didn’t have much of a pre-season. He’s a fit lad, he can run, but everybody has got to fit in the way we want to play.”
