Tomer Hemed has ended doubts about his Albion future by agreeing a contract extension until the end of next season.

The 30-year-old Israeli international striker has signed a new deal with the Seagulls today through to June 2019.

Hemed attracted widespread interest from the Championship, headed by Reading, during the summer transfer window and was also linked with a move to China.

Boss Chris Hughton said: "Tomer has been brilliant for the club since we signed him in 2015. He has scored crucial goals in both the Championship and Premier League in his time here.

"He was a key player for us in our promotion-winning season, and this season he has made the step up to the Premier League. We have all been absolutely delighted with his contribution, and this new contract is hard earned and well deserved."

Hemed has hit 33 goals in 97 appearances for Albion since they bought him from Spanish club Almeria for around £800,000.

He returned to contention as a substitute in the last game before the international break at Swansea following a three-match ban for treading on Newcastle defender DeAndre Yedlin.

Hemed said: "I'm delighted to sign. It shows the club are happy with me and want me for longer.

"For the last two years I have been part of the team that made it and got promoted. Now I can enjoy it also in the Premier League with Brighton."
