Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton made his comeback from long-term injury in a remarkable 3-2 win for the under-23s against Stoke at the bet365 Stadium.

Simon Rusk's side recovered from 2-0 down with three goals in a five-minute spell in the second half in the prelude to Monday night's Premier League clash between the clubs at the Amex.

Walton joined Wigan on loan for the season in the summer after signing a new four-year contract.

He suffered an ankle injury in training at the end of August, which required surgery.

Walton was beaten three minutes into his return by Stoke's Ryan Hill and Tre Pemberton doubled the hosts' lead in the 63rd minute.

Albion responded through Max Sanders (69), Aaron Connolly (71) and Jayson Molumby (74).

They also came from 2-0 down to win at East Preston after-extra-time in the Sussex Senior Cup on Wednesday night.

The defence included Tyler Hornby-Forbes, back from three months on loan to Accrington Stanley.
