Albion were robbed of a penalty as they stretched their unbeaten run in the Premier League to five matches at the Amex.

Stoke skipper Ryan Shawcross owned up to a first half foul inside the box on Glenn Murray in tonight's 2-2 draw.

The Seagulls were trailing to a Maxim Choupo-Moting goal for Stoke when Shawcross brought down Murray in the first half.

Referee Lee Mason and his assistant refused to award a spot-kick, much to Shawcross's relief.

He admitted: "I think I clipped him and the ref's probably not got the best of angles. It probably was a penalty."

Murray, denied the chance to score for the fourth game in succession, said: "It's one of those and hopefully it all evens itself out."

Boss Chris Hughton was less charitable. He said: "I had a very good view of it and straight away I thought it was a penalty. I am really disappointed with that. There are two officials who can make a judgement on that. I was 50 yards away and I could see it, the linesman was right there."

Albion fought back twice through Pascal Gross and Jose Izquierdo after Kurt Zouma restored Stoke's lead in first half stoppage time.

Hughton said: "When you have been behind twice you have to show character and we did. We were not at our best. Stoke are a very manly team, we had to stand up to that.

"We have to be realistic. We are playing against better teams and better players and if you can't win games then don't lose them. We have won away in our last two games so there is a balance with drawing at home. We endeavour to entertain the fans and win as many games as we can."
