Davy Propper will pick his moment to try to help Albion score their first league goal at Old Trafford for 34 years.

The Dutch international midfielder provided an assist for the first equaliser in Monday’s 2-2 home draw against Stoke with an elusive run and cross to set up Pascal Gross.

Propper scored three goals in two World Cup qualifiers for Holland this season, playing as a No.10, and seven times for PSV Eindhoven last season.

He operates in a deeper role for the Seagulls alongside Dale Stephens and is yet to hit the target.

He said: “With Holland I have a different position. It’s more difficult (with Albion) and I have to pick my moments.

“Maybe with some shots I can be dangerous. We can pick moments to go (forward) but most of the time we have to protect the defence. That’s the main task.”

Steve Gatting scored Albion’s last league goal at Old Trafford in a 1-1 draw in March 1983, two months before the teams met in the FA Cup final.

They drew a blank in a League Cup tie in 1992 and on their last visit in the FA Cup a year later.
