Kazenga LuaLua is poised to return to Albion in January from a second loan spell with Queens Park Rangers.
The Championship club have the option of extending LuaLua's loan for the rest of the season - but he has failed to impress since going back to Loftus Road in the summer.
LuaLua has made only two league starts under Ian Holloway, the same number as during his first loan stint from January last season.
His father died in August and he has not featured in Holloway's plans for two months.
Holloway, speaking to West London Sport, said: "We borrowed him until January, he lost his father and I think he lost his confidence.
"I don't feel he was doing as well as some of my lads who I've brought here. Unless he rips it up and shows me – and he's trying to – I think the loss of confidence and loss of his father has really hit him.
"So I've got some decisions to make on that and at the minute he hasn't changed my mind.
"If he wants to then great. He'll have another opportunity – he still trains with us and works with us."
