Chris Hughton has explained why he left Anthony Knockaert out of his side at Huddersfield.
The winger travelled but did not make the 18 as his side went down 2-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Hughton revealed Knockaert was left out for tactical reasons.
He said: “Their full-backs play high and wide. I felt we needed to be fairly compact."
Hughton said Albion's usual set-up had plenty of advantages.
But he added: “It can leave you open away from home against a really expansive team. I wanted to more compact.
“The team formation didn’t have anything to do with the two goals we conceded.”
Ezequiel Schelotto started on the right and wingers Solly March and Jose Izquierdo were both sent on as subs.
Hughton said of Knockaert: “He has played a lot of games.
“We have a squad at the moment which is very competitive and we are going to have to use them over a lot of hard games.”
