TIM KRUL will have to wait for his Premier League debut for Albion.

Manager Chris Hughton has hinted Mathew Ryan will not be dumped after coming under scrutiny in the last two games. A cross by Tottenham’s Serge Aurier sailed over the Australian’s head in Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat at Wembley.

That followed a header by Huddersfield’s Steve Mounie which went under Ryan in the 2-0 setback in Yorkshire.

Hughton said: “Goalkeeper or any players, you are always looking at positives and negatives, the good and bad periods, and with Maty probably the last couple of games there would have been a couple of goals he would be disappointed with.

“But he works hard and assesses everything, and you also have to look at the saves he has made that have kept us in games and won us points. That has to be the balance.

“If you watch the football Saturday night, Sunday afternoon, you see goals come from keeper mistakes, it can be very up and down. On balance he has done far better for us.

“You have to have competition in which ever position. But if you are asking about the form of Maty, overall we have been pleased with him. He has saved us more points than the other way around.”

Ryan has played every minute of all 17 Premier League matches since signing from Valencia in the summer.

Dutchman Krul kept goal in the League Cup in September but has not played in the Premier League since appearing for former club Newcastle over two years ago.
