Chris Hughton has backed Glenn Murray after his costly penalty miss for Albion.

The Seagulls boss said his striker was “normally very reliable” after he shot over from the spot in a 0-0 draw with Burnley.

Hughton said: “When somebody misses a penalty or you score an own goal, it's all part and parcel of the game.

“There's no point in saying anything because he will be disappointed himself “Glenn is one who is normally very reliable. There isn't anything you can say.

“All you can do as a team is try to stay focused, try to keep the momentum we had at the time and try to score a goal from open play to release that bit of tension.

"Of late we've not been at our best and you have to play at a level in this division. win games. I'm pleased with a lot of aspects of the first half.

“We are up against better teams, better defences, better goalkeepers.

“But we have to try and find that form to score goals. Whether it's a penalty, a set-piece, a lucky goal, we need to find a way.
