Chris Hughton will face the manager he replaced at Norwich when he takes Albion to fellow Premier League strugglers Stoke City next month.
They have appointed Paul Lambert on a two-and-a-half-year contract after missing out on Derby's Gary Rowett, Quique Sanchez Flores of Espanyol and Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill.
Hughton took over from Lambert at Norwich in the Premier League in June 2012.
The Scot went on to manage Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers and Wolves.
He will be in the stands for third-bottom Stoke's visit to Manchester United tonight.
Lambert's first game in charge will be at home to Huddersfield on Saturday.
Albion visit the bet365 Stadium on February 10.
