Jose Izquierdo wants to serve up a priceless assist off the field if Albion land a star signing from overseas.

The Colombian winger brought in from Club Brugge believes he can help any new addition to settle quickly thanks to his own experiences.

Albion are scouring international markets to spice up their attack and could break the transfer record set when they spent £13.5 million on Izquierdo.

A new recruit would have to hit the ground running, something Izquierdo struggled to do after arriving two games into the Premier League season.

He told The Argus: “If I can help someone who is coming in, for sure I will do it “I already know how it feels when you come from the other side of the world and you have to adapt quickly to the football and everything. You feel so bad.

“If some player comes in and needs the experience I have had, for sure I will do it.

“I didn’t have pre-season. When you don’t have the pre-season, it is difficult.

“The work and what I would call the oxygen you get in pre-season, you have to get it in normal training and games.”

A report of Spartak Moscow’s Cape-Verdean striker Ze Luis being “expected soon” at Albion for a fee of 20 million euros was last night understood to be wide of the mark.

Izquierdo has been hit and miss so far but believes he will be better next term after a summer with the squad.

He added: “When you don’t play a lot of games and only training, it is difficult to get the level.

“One important thing is to do the pre-season.”
