Ezequiel Schelotto has revealed he received a shirt and some kind words from Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

But he left the Amex on Saturday without the penalties he felt he should have been awarded.

And, of course, the result he and his side craved.

Now he has urged Albion to put a 4-0 defeat behind them and get the wins they need to stay up.

Schelotto revealed he met up with the fellow Argentinean fate put in his path after Saturday’s game.

In the run-up to the match, neither man was widely expected to start.

As it was, they turned into chief protagonists when Schelotto went down under challenge from Caballero, in for the injured Thibaut Courtois.

It looked a penalty on first glance – and an even clearer spot-kick when checking replays.

Schelotto later lost his cool for a few seconds after another penalty shout was also waved away.

The Argus:

The Albion man told The Argus: “I felt on the first the goalkeeper touched my leg.

“The second was all very quick. I anticipated what was going to happen and again I thought their player touched me.

“The referee had to decide what to give and he decided it wasn’t a foul.

“These are things that happen in a match but they are behind us now.

“We can’t look back, we need to think ahead.

“But I go away feeling pretty disgusted because they would have been two very good chances for us to score."

Caballero, whose surname means Gentleman, denied any contact with Schelotto in his post-match interview.

But he was very gentlemanly away from the cameras after a game in which he also thwarted the Albion man with a good save in the second half.

Schelotto revealed: “We exchanged shirts after the game.

“Caballero is a good goalkeeper and he is Argentinean, like me.

“He complimented me a lot and I was happy with how I played.

“When you do things and the opposing team come and congratulate you, that is nice.

“I know the coach (Antonio Conte, his former boss at Atalanta) as well and he congratulated me. That was nice.

“I’m pleased about that on a personal level but I feel bitter about the result.”
