Albion have cooled their interest for now in Luton Town teenager James Justin.

The Seagulls refuse to pay over the odds for Justin and other young Football League talents such as Charlton’s Ezri Konsa as the transfer window draws to a close.

Right-back Justin, 19, and versatile defender Konsa, 20, have been on their radar as prospects for the future.

Albion have achieved their main goals in the January window, which shuts at 11pm tonight.

Jurgen Locadia and Leo Ulloa have been added to Chris Hughton’s striker options.

Key players like highly rated central defender Lewis Dunk have been retained.

Meanwhile, wingers Jamie Murphy and Kazenga LuaLua, with little prospect of game time, have left for Glasgow Rangers and Sunderland respectively.

Albion are happy with their 25-man Premier League squad and have no desire to lose Israeli forward Tomer Hemed, a target in the summer for several Championship clubs headed by Reading.

The stakes for tonight’s game at Southampton were raised last night when Swansea City beat Arsenal 3-1 to move out of the bottom three.

Swans are now level on points with Albion, who could drop into the relegation zone if they lose tonight.
