Albion boss Chris Hughton praised his team's application as they saw off underdogs Coventry in the FA Cup.

Hughton made nine changes from the Premier League draw at Stoke.

The Seagulls soon imposed themselves and it took Jurgen Locadia just 15 minutes to score on his debut.

Leo Ulloa, back on loan from Leicester, was also on target in the second half with an unstoppable header.

Hughton said: "The opposition's endeavour can make it a difficult afternoon, but we started well. The application was really good.

"It's obvious the dufference in the levels. The only way you can show that is applying yourself and we started really well.

"Even though Jurgen can play anywhere across the front, we played in effect with two number nines. You want them to get off the mark, probably more so Jurgen as a new player. Leo has been around for a while.

"To get off the mark so early in your first game, I was really delighted for him. What was more important is that he came through the game. He hasn't played for close to two months. It's important he came through with no issues."

Locadia was replaced after 77 minutes by Sam Baldock, while Ulloa had only his second 90 minutes since August.
