Boss Chris Hughton believes Albion's biggest ever Premier League win could have been even more emphatic.

The Seagulls scored four goals for the first time in the 4-1 thrashing of Swansea at the Amex.

It is also the first time they have hit four in the top flight since Manchester City were beaten at home by the same score in October 1981.

Swansea chief Carlos Carvalhal made three substitutions in the space of half-an-hour either side of the interval and changed formation when Albion were 1-0 up.

Hughton said: "We had to go through a difficult period. Particularly first half they showed what a good side they are and similar to ourselves have been in good, confident mood but as the game opened up I thought we really capitalised on that.

"Probably it's the game this season that we could have got more as well. There aren't too many occasions when you can say that.

"They opened up a little bit, went for it, and normally when a team does that it's going to go either way. It certainly benefited us."
