Chris Hughton has no desire to hasten Arsene Wenger's exit from Arsenal - he just wants to steer Albion closer to Premier League safety.

The pressure is mounting on Wenger after a hat-trick of defeats in all competitions.

It will get worse if former Spurs stalwart Hughton guides Albion to victory over the other North London giants at the Amex today (1.30).

Hughton said: "I only have one ambition and that's to win as many games as possible. Nothing to do with particular games or particular personalities.

"We want to win as many games as possible and hopefully stay in this division."

Even if Albion win, the national headlines will focus on Wenger's future.

Hughton said: "We're well aware that whatever we do Arsenal is the story, you get used to that. It's something we are comfortable with – you expect that because we're a newly-promoted team and one of the smaller teams in the division.

"You are going to be spoken about less and that comes with the territory. The bigger clubs have such media hype around them and rightly so because of the players they have. It's something we are comfortable with.”
