Albion want Bruno to stay when he hangs up his boots.

The skipper signed another one-year contract earlier this month, stretching his stay into a seventh season and carrying him beyond his 38th birthday.

He won the Sarah Watts Inspiration Awards at the annual awards evening for the contribution he makes to both the team and the community.

Chief executive Paul Barber said: “For a player of Bruno’s standing and the qualities that he brings on and off the pitch, we would certainly hope that when he does decide to hang up his boots then he will be with us for a very long time to come.

“He’s an inspirational leader on and off the pitch. He understands the connection between the football club and the community and between the fans and the football club and the players, and therefore he sets a great example for the whole squad.”

Bruno will make his first away appearance since January at Burnley next Saturday after Chris Hughton recalled him for Tuesday’s 1-1 home draw against Spurs.
