NIKI MAENPAA is keen to stay with Albion if he can agree terms on another new deal.

The Finnish back-up goalkeeper is poised for talks at the end of the season. Maenpaa’s current one-year contract, with an option for both player and club, expires next month.

Richinel Bryson, Maenpaa’s agent, said: “In his heart Niki is a Brighton man.”

Maenpaa, 33, has made one league start and ten FA Cup and League Cup appearances since arriving from Dutch club VVV Venlo on a free transfer in July 2015. He understudied David Stockdale for two seasons in the Championship. Australian international Mathew Ryan, bought from Valencia when Stockdale left for Birmingham, has established himself as Albion’s No.1.

Tim Krul has been on the bench as cover for Ryan since signing from Newcastle in August. Krul is also out of contract at the end of the season.
