Sussex suffered white-ball defeat in a thriller – despite a century from Harry Finch.
The Sharks went down by two wickets with four balls to spare against Hampshire at Hove after being bowled out for 250.
It leaves them with two points from two home dates in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
Hampshire looked second favourites when Hashim Amla (63) was caught behind off David Wiese (3-46).
But his demise at 133-6 led to a stand of 61 in six overs between Gareth Berg (65 off 37) and Lewis McManus (41 off 38) which swung the balance in their side’s favour.
Hampshire needed 20 off 15 balls when Berg was held on the boundary by sub fielder Phil Salt.
But they saw it through from there in a tight finish with Worthing’s Mason Crane (21 not out) hitting the winning runs.
Finch reached three figures for the first time in the competition with 108 off 142 balls.
He shared a second-wicket stand of 105 with Luke Wright (56) and Wiese added 29 off 20 balls late on.
But Sussex will view this as a potential win which got away.
