CONNOR GOLDSON wishes he could have done more at Albion.

But he has “good memories” of his three years with the Seagulls after joining Glasgow Rangers.

Goldson completed his move to Ibrox last week on a four-year contract in a deal which could eventually rise to over £5 million.

The 25-year-old central defender was hit by injury and health problems with the Seagulls, including major heart surgery last year on an enlarged aorta.

Goldson told The Argus: “It’s been amazing and frustrating at times. Frustrating because of a few things that have happened. Getting injured pre-season after doing well in the first season was a big setback.

“Then, midway through the second season, having my heart troubles. I just think there’s a lot more that I could have done and could have proved.

“I always wanted to do more but at the same time what the club has done for me, taking me from Shrewsbury when we had just got up from League One into the Championship, to going on to losing in the play-offs, then getting promoted and staying in the Premier League – it’s been unbelievable.

“And then all the support I’ve had throughout the surgery from everyone, the players, the staff, the fans, they’ve all been brilliant with me. I can only look back with good memories.”

The decision to leave was straightforward for Goldson after only six league starts in the past two seasons, due to the dominant form of Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy.

He said: “I knew I hadn’t played football this year and that’s all I wanted to do, to play football.

“For me, at the age of 25, I have not played as much as I wanted to in the past two seasons. It was quite an easy decision.

“I couldn’t see a pathway for me to get into the first team. Obviously, that is credit to the two in front of me and how well they have done in the past two seasons.

“They are both friends of mine and I never wished anything bad on them but, at the same time, I have to forward my career now. I feel like my career needs a kick-start and I feel this is the perfect place for it.”
