Albion have stepped up their pursuit of Reading central defender Liam Moore.

A Sky Sports News report of a third offer from the Seagulls has been confirmed by The Argus via a well-placed source.

The bid involves a downpayment of £8 million with additional clauses which would push the final amount nearer Reading's £15 million valuation of the 25-year-old.

The Royals signed Moore in 2016 from Leicester for £1.5 million.

He helped them to the Championship play-off final in his first season at the Madejski Stadium and was outstanding last season despite the team narrowly avoiding relegation, not missing a minute of league action.

He was the top shot-blocker in the Championship and was named Reading's player of the year.

Albion need another central defender after losing Uwe Huenemeier back to Paderborn in Germany and Connor Goldson to Glasgow Rangers.

They have signed Nigerian World Cup stopper Leon Balogun to support established pairing Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy, who faces a race to be fit for the start of the Premier League campaign on August 11 following a groin op.
